Today was a travel day for me. I left sunny San Diego (and my Sweet Patootie) in order to get ready for work on Tuesday. The SD airport was pretty crowded. Even though we left in plenty of time for my flight, I was held up because after scanning they wanted to pat my bottom and then to sniff my fingers.
My frightfully stylish capris have embroidery on the back pockets with embellishments – that probably prompted the patting, but I have no idea what the mechanical hand sniffer was all about. It’s a good thing we had not been to the shooting range, I guess, because my flight was loading when I arrived at the gate.
Houston was also a busy place. However I did score a row all to myself on that connecting flight.
I got into Cleveland Hopkins about 7:30 pm. I was amazed that the place was a ghost town. All the shops and restaurants were closed and there were only three departing flights listed on the schedule board. That does not bode well for the chances of Cleveland continuing to be a hub for United.
Vacation was terrific

Okay, so I missed Tuesday this week. We are on vacation. However, August 30, is Toasted Marshmallow Day! Fire up the campfire, find some long sticks, and prepare by watching Ghost Busters.

We are on the road – west coast this time. This afternoon we spent some time poking around in the tide pools at Bean Hollow State Beach. Saw crabs in many colors, large and small, limpets, hermit crabs, cormorants, grebes, etc. It was foggy, but fun.
Look how it cleared up by the time we got to Big Sur.
This is a wonderful trip, needless to say.

I don’t know if this is really a tattoo or not, but it is interesting. Maps and charts have always fascinated me. I was our family’s navigator when we went on trips. I was the only one who was interested in reading a map. I remember a trip to Pittsburgh when my father refused to ask directions, but just blithely crossed every bridge he came to. (Have you ever been to Pittsburgh?) We never got home.
