What am I sappy cat blogging?
January 11, 2013“An agent saw the cat and went to look at it closely because something about it seemed wrong,” Marcelo Avelino, the head of the prison guards’ union, told the O Globo newspaper.
The agent found a bag tied to the animal’s body filled with saw blades and drill parts for concrete drilling and digging tunnels, along with a cell phone complete with battery and charger, Avelino added.
The cat had often been seen coming in and out of the Alagoas jail.
Prison officer Luiz de Oliveira Souza told the G1 news website that prisoners had raised the cat and that relatives would often take it home after a prison visit.
“We were very surprised by this new tactic of prisoners,” who trained the animal so that it returned to the prison and even managed to carry materials, the agent added.

Whose birthday am I celebrating?
January 7, 2013Happy Birthday to Flash Gordon. This comic strip first appeared on January 7, 1934.
The comic strip follows the adventures of Flash Gordon, a handsome polo player and Yale graduate, and his companions Dale Arden and Dr. Hans Zarkov. The story begins with Earth bombarded by fiery meteors. Dr. Zarkov invents a rocket ship to locate their place of origin in outer space. Half mad, he kidnaps Flash and Dale, whose plane has crashed in the area, and the three travel to the planet Mongo, where they discover the meteors are weapons devised by Ming the Merciless, evil ruler of Mongo.
Flash Gordon later appeared in movies and on television, as well as in the comics.
