What is tattoo Tuesday about this week?
April 9, 2013This week is a photo essay on stork tattoos. I decided to stay away from the baby-storky tattoos and go for those that are more realistic ones. Some of these may actually be cranes – but, close enough.
And for something different, yet related:

What is tattoo Tuesday about?
March 26, 2013Today is March 26 and it is still snowing in Cleveland. This weather is not out of the ordinary, and I am not one to rush the hot weather. If I ruled the universe, I would make spring and fall the longest seasons with a few weeks of snow over the winter holidays and warm sunny weather whenever I want to go to the beach. Perfectly logical, if you ask me.
Today’s tattoos are an homage to snow.
At least our magnolias are still in their buds, not like this Washington, D.C. tree

What am I gazing at?
March 8, 2013Thanks to HMS Defiant for this link to Comet PANSTARRS that will be visible soon in the northern hemisphere. Visibility here will depend a lot on the weather, but I will be looking for it.

What am I sappy cat blogging?
March 2, 2013I’m still on vacation, so sappy cat blogging this week is following the vacation theme. I spent some time on Key West this week – a spot I have not visited before and liked quite well!
These are some images of the Hemingway cats on Key West, Florida. There are a number of stories about how the cats, many of which are six-toed, came to the island, and how they came to be associated with Ernest Hemingway.

Where am I traveling?
February 18, 2013Last Saturday, I was traveling – first a meeting in Frankfort, Kentucky (a nice little town) and then to Cincinnati to visit friends.
While in Cincinnati, we visited the market and the Krohn Conservatory, which offered a splendid breath of spring.
Here are the daffodils at the Krohn Conservatory. . .
and here are the ones in my garden . . .
Here are a few more photos from the Krohn:
The photo above reminds me of the Cluny tapestries.

February 15, 2013I mentioned earlier that I am knitting hats for the newborns at the county hospital. Here are some of the latest creations being shown by world-class models.
Below, Murphy models a snappy white cloche with a garnet bow embellishment.
And then Sam shows off a novelty cupcake hat.
Then in profile.
This modeling can be an exhausting business.
I am amazed at how calm these guys are during the photo shoot.
