My thoughts and prayers are with the people who are coping with their losses.
It is Tuesday, so here are some tornado tattoos.

We are on the road – west coast this time. This afternoon we spent some time poking around in the tide pools at Bean Hollow State Beach. Saw crabs in many colors, large and small, limpets, hermit crabs, cormorants, grebes, etc. It was foggy, but fun.
Look how it cleared up by the time we got to Big Sur.
This is a wonderful trip, needless to say.

… and beautiful – This Wind Map, a lovely infographic of the wind wafting over the land, created by Martin Wattenberg and Fernanda Viegas.

Today is March 26 and it is still snowing in Cleveland. This weather is not out of the ordinary, and I am not one to rush the hot weather. If I ruled the universe, I would make spring and fall the longest seasons with a few weeks of snow over the winter holidays and warm sunny weather whenever I want to go to the beach. Perfectly logical, if you ask me.
Today’s tattoos are an homage to snow.
At least our magnolias are still in their buds, not like this Washington, D.C. tree

After several days of temps in the unseasonably high 60s, it is snowing again with a 40 degree drop in temperature overnight.
Here is something else to think about – from HMS Defiant.

In Cleveland, in January, it can be a big difference.
Here are some photos from last week. Sightseeing at home, enjoying the lakefront and the city center.
Here is the Terminal Tower complex from Public Square.

And the weather today – one week later – pretty typical for January in this neck of the woods.

Because today is St. Swithin’s Day. Here is some background.
Swithin was Bishop of Winchester in the 9th century. Little is known of his life, although he was rumored to be humble and charitable. He is best known these days because of this weather forecasting ditty:
St Swithin’s Day, if thou dost rain,
For forty days it will remain:
St. Swithin’s Day, if thou be fair,
For forty days ’twill rain nae mair.’
He was said to have asked to be buried outside the cathedral where people would pass by his remains and the rain would fall on him. One hundred years later, his relics were moved (translated) into a shrine in the new church. Miracles were associated with this translation and Swithin was canonized.
