Today is National Bundt Cake Day – as you can see, I made a poppy seed bundt cake and it is going fast. This may be my all time favorite cake. The recipe is on the Solo poppy seed filling can. I have also made it with their chestnut filling, but I am afraid they do not make that flavor anymore.
It is really good.

In the early hours of October 28, commuters witnessed an unusual sight as the rear of a Pittsburgh city bus vanished into a giant sinkhole. There was one passenger on the bus, but no injuries.
It turns out there had been a water main leak under the street that washed out the area under the pavement. The bus was just at the wrong place when the asphalt gave way underneath it.
The incident has led to a number of Pittsburgh wags creating bus sinkhole doughnuts, sinkhole Christmas ornaments, a bus sinkhole Halloween costume and, of course, a tattoo.
A crane was summoned and street repairs are underway.

The closest planet to the sun began its transit — an apparent passage across the sun from the perspective of Earth — at 7:35 a.m. EST (1235 GMT) and will continue its journey for 5.5 hours. It will be visible in the U.S.and many other parts of the world. Be sure to check this event out, as it will be the last time until 2032 that Mercury transits the sun. And that occurrence won’t be visible in the U.S.; Americans will have to wait until 2049 for the next visible event.
