A Road Trip
August 26, 2021We drove with friends to lovely Toledo, Ohio this weekend. Their mission was to see an exhibit at the Toledo Museum of Art. My Sweetie’s mission was to visit his favorite painting that resides in the Toledo museum. I was along for the ride.

We had a beautiful day for a drive. We had a very good lunch at the Maumee Bay Brewing Company and then headed to the museum.

The show my friends wanted to see was occult art, . . . yeah. It had some interesting items. I particularly liked the spirit painting by Choling Taha, “Bear Medicine.” It has bears. It has bees.

My Sweetie found his painting – and bought a print of it.

Then we wandered over to the Pavilion of Glass that is adjacent to the museum (think Libby and Owens Corning money.)

Do you play that game where you pick out the one piece in a museum or exhibit that you would choose for your own (thank you, Bill Bryson). My choice was this splendid miniature of a diner – completed constructed of glass. There is a tiny napkin on the floor, there is a little glass blackboard with a menu and prices, there are teeny, tiny salt and pepper shakers. I loved it.

We topped off our trip with a visit to Toft’s Dairy for ice cream – oh, my!
