What day am I noting?
March 28, 2018Today is Something on a Stick Day
My thoughts immediately go to corn dogs . . .
But there are so many other things to consider . . .
One of my favorites is a dish I call chicken sticks. I take four chicken breasts, cut them into bite sized pieces, combine with 1 1/2 tablespoons of Penzey’s Turkish seasoning and about half a cup of Greek yogurt in a large plastic bag. Squish it all up and let it marinate for a while. Then I thread the chicken pieces on bamboo skewers and grill. I just grill the on top of the stove – in a cast iron pan, or not. They are tender and tasty. Mine look something like this:
Other things on sticks . . .?
Don’t be silly.
Oh, don’t be silly indeed. But the recipe for chicken on sticks sounds lovely. I’ve done something similar (before I knew about Penzey’s), but added in chunks of red pepper and other veg. Delicious.
Your recipe does sound yummy! there is just something about things on sticks. I go back to my girl scout days when we went camping and baked biscuits on actual sticks with the bark removed over a campfire and them filled them with jam. It was the most delicious thing I had ever tasted (in my 10-year-old mind).
I am starting to wonder what a Jaundiced eye looks like. I’m also a lot more careful about sticks. And so are Hobbes and Sam.
The chicken is pretty darn tasty though.
Thank you 🙂
