Hold onto it

September 17, 2022

Every year when we travel to Maine, we pass through Bartlett, New Hampshire in the midst of the beautiful White Mountains. Pictured above is Josiah Bartlett Elementary School in Bartlett, NH. The school was named not for the fictional President from the program West Wing . . .

but for this Josiah Bartlett

He was a physician and politician and represented New Hampshire at the Continental Congress.

The reason that I mention him here is that he was the second signer of the Declaration of Independence, right after John Hancock. This document, of course, initiated the Colonies’ break with the British Crown and, led eventually, to the creation of the Constitution of the United States of America.

Today is Constitution Day – read it, know it, appreciate it, and hold it dear
