Patterns in the desert

I find these repetitive patterns so satisfying visually; yet I also find it poignant that these masters of the air are reduced to life in the boneyard. This is, of course the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona.

There is literally no way to look at them without understanding/knowing about WWII.
There is no way on earth to understand 60 years of Cold War without accepting that this was the cost.
There is absolutely no way to understand that cost without understanding that the CIA, NSA, and NRO were complicit in that failure to understand.
