Something worth keeping

April 28, 2022

Sometimes a recipe (or a memory) is so good that it calls out to be immortalized. I was touched by these memorials to the culinary skills of loved ones.

Naomi Miller-Dawson’s recipe for spritz cookies lives on Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery.

Kaye Andrews’ fudge recipe was so good that her family wanted it immortalized on her headstone in Logan, Utah’s City Cemetery.

I wish I could read Hebrew. Ida Kleinman’s family loved her nut rolls so much that they inscribed the recipe on her headstonein Rehovot Cemetery, Israel. With strawberry jam, cinnamon sugar and ground pecans, they sound like rugelah to me. Yum.

All from Atlas Obscura.
