Buro Gustave Eiffel designed his iconic and eponymous tower in DATE. At a little over 1000 feet in height, the tip of the tower offered unobstructed views of Paris. Wanting to enjoy the panorama, Eiffel constructed a cozy private apartment for himself just under the tip of the tower. It included a living room, bathroom and kitchen area, but not a bedroom. Eiffel used the apartment as an office and a place for scientific study.

This is one of my favorite buildings in the world. I applaud Eiffel’s foresight to add a private space for himself at the top and I would love to spend some time there.
