Field Trip
September 17, 2009
On a trip today to Colorado. When I’m in a location that’s new to me I like to take a look around for differences in the flora and fauna I can see in my travels. Okay, I am always looking around for interesting birds and other animals. The hawk that sometimes visits my suburban neighborhood will always get my attention.
Anyway while driving from the airport, I was looking around for unusual (to me) birds, and did not see any – not one. But, looking at the undeveloped areas beside the highway, I did see some objects that did not look like rocks or stumps. Looking closer, they were seen on, in or near bare hills of earth. I am guessing I saw a bunch of prairie dog villages and the inhabitants were prairie dogging. Fun to see.
